Nintendo DS save converter

Convert DeSmuME's .dsv to .sav, and back.

DeSmuME saves DS games as .dsv: the raw save plus a 122-byte footer. melonDS, RetroArch, DraStic, and flash carts want the raw .sav. Convert either way here.

What the converter does

.dsv to .sav checks for DeSmuME's footer and removes it. What's left is the raw save that every other DS emulator reads.

.sav to .dsv pads the save to the next DS save size with empty bytes, as DeSmuME does, and adds the footer with the save's size and type. DeSmuME can also import a raw .sav itself (File, Import Backup Memory), so you only need this to drop a file straight into its Battery folder.

Keep your saves in sync instead

Converting is a one-off. If you play the same games on more than one device, SaveSync keeps the saves in step between them through RetroArch's built-in Cloud Sync, and keeps the 20 newest versions of each.

Set up RetroArch Cloud Sync in a few minutes.

Questions

Where does DeSmuME keep .dsv files?
In its Battery folder, named after the ROM. On Windows, Config, Path Settings shows where that is.
Does melonDS read .dsv files?
melonDS reads the start of the file and ignores the rest, so a .dsv often works, but a clean .sav with the exact size is safer.
Are my saves uploaded?
No. The converter runs in your browser, and your files never leave your device.
