Cemu · Wii U

Where Cemu keeps your saves.

Cemu keeps Wii U saves in its emulated system storage, the mlc01 folder, under usr/save. Cemu has no save states.

Inside mlc01

A game's save is in usr/save/00050000/<title ID>/user/, with a folder per account (80000001 is the first) and a common folder.

Right-click a game, Save directory to open it. File, Open MLC folder opens mlc01, and Tools, Title Manager exports, imports, and moves saves between accounts.

Moving saves between devices

  • Copy the game's folder under usr/save, not whole paths: mlc01 is somewhere else on each OS.
  • The account folder must match the account you play on. If it doesn't, use the Title Manager's transfer.
  • Options, General settings, Custom MLC path moves mlc01, but not the files already there.

Sync Cemu saves between devices

The SaveSync app for Windows, Mac, Linux, Steam Deck, and Android will watch Cemu's save folders and sync them when you close a game. It is coming next.

Today SaveSync syncs RetroArch through its built-in Cloud Sync. See how to set it up.

SaveSync keeps the newest 20 versions of every save, so a bad sync or an overwritten slot is one click to undo.
