SaveSync vs 1Retro

Saves and save states, with nothing to install.

1Retro and SaveSync both sync emulator saves for about $2 a month. 1Retro does it with an app that finds your saves; SaveSync uses the Cloud Sync built into RetroArch, syncs save states too, and gives you far more room.

Choose SaveSync if

  • You want save states synced, not only in-game saves
  • You want nothing to install: RetroArch syncs by itself when you close a game
  • You want 5 GB and 20 versions of every save for $15 a year
  • You play on an iPhone or iPad

Choose 1Retro if

  • You use OpenEmu, MiSTer, or standalone emulators today

Switching from 1Retro

Stop 1Retro syncing RetroArch's folders, then set up Cloud Sync on the device with your newest saves first and restart RetroArch: it uploads them. Then add your other devices.

Setting up takes a few minutes per device: see the Cloud Sync guide, or the one for your device.

Questions

Why does SaveSync give so much more room?
Saves are small, but save states and 20 versions of each add up. 5 GB means you never think about it.
Will SaveSync sync standalone emulators?
Yes: a SaveSync app for desktop and Android that syncs standalone emulators' folders is coming next.
